Surly-Mac's Blues

"Take your time, young man - take your time"

Rise Up, Surly-Mac!

Cry your eyes out, Springsteen…

This project was very challenging for the old guys of SMOMB... 29 tracks and many struggles later, we’ve got a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “City Of Ruins” that we like. (The MP3 file is in the side bar.)

The ragged “with these hands...” chorus was intentional and we’re sort of pleased with the effect. Here are the YouTube notes:

I watched the movie, "Jersey Girl" a couple of weeks ago and heard Bruce Springsteen's "City Of Ruins" in the soundtrack - as always, thoughts of September 11, 2001 brought tears to my eyes.

I called the boys in the band; could Surly-Mac's One-Man Band do a version of the song?

"NO!", they answered in a firm, ragged chorus. ("Ragged Chorus" is also the name of the SMOMB's vocal director...)

We did it anyway.
