11-19-11 Shakin' the Pignose..

As for me, it's back to the "woodshed”...

I hosted this video at YouTube so it should play easily for anyone interested. As it says on YouTube:

About once a month, I sit down with my Shaker Dynamic Mic & Pignose 7-100 amp and try different settings/effects to see if there's any improvement in my amplified sound. Today I tried (& abandoned) a Danelectro 'Fish & Chips' Equalizer then added in a slight delay with a Danelectro FAB Delay Pedal. I'm playing a Seydel 1847 D harmonica along with a 12-bar ukulele loop in the key of A...I believe the simple truth is that unless a player has a good acoustic tone & style, all the mics & amps in the world will just make your poor efforts... LOUDER. At least, it's true for me!But, even a novice harmonica player can get some enjoyment out of (attempting) to play some amplified blues harp - you've just got to keep a sense of perspective, keep trying to learn and listen to the folks who can really play. As for me, it's back to the "woodshed" where I'll keep harpin' & hoping for "one of these days" to get here. (I should live so long!)
