Seasonal Foliage Disorder Worsens!!

Seasonal problem returns to Calhoun, MO 2 Blight worsens 2

The State of Missouri (USA) is one-third covered with forests. As we reported last time, the seasonal disorder that causes tree leaves to suddenly discolor and fall to the ground has returned in 2009. The photo above (left) was published to demonstrate the most devastating effects of the blight.

As shocking as the conditions were at the time of that earlier publication, it is now reported that the disorder has worsened. Severe effects, amply illustrated by this recent photo above (right), are being reported throughout Henry County. The image was captured on Sunday, November 8th in Calhoun, MO.

A comparison of the photos makes the progression of the disorder obvious; foliage has continued to disengage itself from the host trees, subsequently falling to the ground, dying and apparently disintegrating.

Calhoun's scientific community (Earl and Scott) continue to be mystified with recent events. An official press release stated that "man's impact on global climate change may be a factor" in what has become an annual leaf-onslaught.

"The dang leaves," said Scott in an exclusive Clarion interview, "just kept falling off. Now they're pretty much all gone. It don't take no
CSI to figure that those leaves are dead forever."

Earl was in Branson for "Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show" and unavailable for comment.
